Position summary
DScOT Program Director & Faculty: Holds a faculty appointment and has administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. As Director, primary responsibilities are to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and/or monitor all activities within the DScOT program including supervision associated faculty for the DScOT program. Additionally to work collaboratively with DScPT Program Director and the School Chairperson. As a faculty member, primary responsibilities are to teach in the DScOT program.

Duties and responsibilities
DScOT Program Director administrative duties include:
- Promote the mission and vision of the University, College of Health and Human Services, and the School of Rehabilitation Sciences
- Actively engage in Postprofessional (PP) faculty/staff meeting on a regular basis to review ongoing program needs and activities
- Provide administration of the DScOT program
- Supervise the Administrative Assistant and all activities delegated to this person
- Co-supervise the Operations Coordinator and Advisor (OCA)
- Development of OT courses, as the founding Director
- Recruit and oversee DScOT program associated faculty.
- Review all course evaluations with the faculty member and establish an improvement plan as appropriate
- Periodically review online courses to monitor performance and student interaction
- Mentor all new faculty on best practice for conducting online course
- Assist in resolution of any problems that arise between students and associated faculty
- Recruit and advise prospective students interested in the DScOT program
- Present, to Postprofessional Faculty Council, student cases who are not meeting academic or professional standards of the program and require action
- Develop DScOT budget for presentation to School Chairperson and monitor budget monthly. This includes forecasting student enrollment, equipment needs, associated faculty salaries, etc.
- Develop an annual marketing plan in collaboration with University Communication for all course offerings in the DScOT program and continuing education courses and monitor/implement the execution of this plan throughout the year
- Engage in recruiting and marketing at professional meetings by working in the Andrews University OT booth
- Conduct regular assessment of the DScOT program, including academic content, curriculum design, program goals and student learning outcomes and implement change as appropriate
- Maintain program morale and motivate faculty/staff within the DScOT program
- Explore and pursue new opportunities for the DScOT Program
As faculty member duties include:
- Carry regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, research, and administration
- Work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers
- Prepare course materials, deliver lectures, conduct labs, administer and grade student assignments/examinations
- Develop quality learning experiences that promote critical thinking in students
- Compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments
- Evaluate students' performance to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning
- Serve as instructor for independent studies as needed
- Design and conduct research in particular field of knowledge
- Present and publish research findings in peer reviewed forums
- Direct, advise and provide mentorship to doctoral students in research
- Student advising and mentorship on academic curricula
- Serve on School, College and University committees as assigned by the Chair of the School
- Participate in curriculum development and assessment
- Arrange accommodations for students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Attend School, College and University faculty meetings and committees as scheduled
- Evening and weekend hours may be required
Supervisory responsibilities
- Supervision of associated faculty in the DScOT program
- Supervise the Administrative Assistant and all activities delegated to this person
- Co-supervise the Operations Coordinator and Advisor (OCA)
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Earned entry-level occupational therapist degree from a ACOTE accredited program preferred.
- Earned advanced doctorate (academic or professional). Candidates enrolled in an academic doctorate with a reasonable projected completion date will be considered.
- At least two years of teaching experience preferred, including teaching online courses.
- At least two years of management experience, serving in leadership roles within a given organization preferred.
- Track record of ongoing research with publications in peer reviewed journals and/or professional presentations preferred.
- Communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
- Ability to utilize different methods and media in delivering course materials.
- Current knowledge and experience in the use of information and computer applications, such as word processing, statistical analysis tools, spreadsheets, or proven ability to learn these skills.
- Exhibits a willingness to adhere to Christian principles, specifically SDA principles.
- A member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good and regular standing preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current occupational therapist license with eligibility for licensure in Michigan. Qualified for American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) membership. Must be able to travel internationally.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate expressively and receptively in English with all persons via written, electronic, and verbal methods.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Knowledge of basic statistical manipulations, financial and accounting processes.
REASONING ABILITY
Possess critical inquiry skills and judgment necessary to guide faculty and students and to interact with other faculty and staff.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

- Physical demands of this job are in keeping with being a faculty member in an educational institution.
- Be able and available to travel by personal vehicle or commercial transportation for distant assignments.
- Be able to be away from home for two or more days at one time.
