Position summary
We are looking for dedicated, responsible, loving and creative individuals to help run our center wide summer camp program and care for the children in our center. You will be involved in all aspects of education and care for children ages 2 weeks - through 12 years. Must be able to manage an active classroom with strong personalities!
Priority given to students who can continue working during the 2021-2022 school year.
Qualifications summary
- Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma.
- Must be an enrolled student of Andrews University
- High energy
- Must love children.
- Degree or major in elementary education, child guidance/counseling, child psychology, family studies, or social work preferred.
- Proof of background check, finger printing, first aid, CPR and additional job-related trainings are required. More information provided at hire.
Duties and responsibilities
- The caregiver will be trained to assist in the classroom and care for children which may include distributing lunches and/or washing dishes.
- Supervises a class without supervision.
- Assumes the responsibilities of the Lead Teacher during the absence of the Lead Teacher.
- Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
- Assists and coordinates snacks, meals, nap time and bathroom activities.
- Provides the children with verbal praises and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.
- Maintains the Crayon Box's professional attitude and work behavior.
- Observes all rules and regulations of The Crayon Box and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
- Assists in other capacities, as determined by the Director.
- Ability to express themselves well in oral and written English
- Follows the schedule, as determined by the Director.

May supervise student workers, as determined by the Director
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma.

- Must have a warm and friendly personality with sensitivity to the feelings and needs of both children and adults.
- Display a willingness to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the center's philosophy and mission.
- Job requires much physical activity and a high energy level.
- Accuracy and efficiency is required

Physical demands
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 25% walking, and 70% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Ability to wear a mask at all times while at work under the current guidelines of The State of Michigan is required.
Work environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
