DEVELOPMENT - Senior Development Officer

Position summary
This Senior Development Officer position will focus on developing, managing, and soliciting a portfolio of 150+ donors and prospective donors.
Qualifications summary
- Personal passion for Seventh-day Adventist Christian higher education with a belief in the mission, principles, and values Andrews University promotes
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred. Two to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with donors
- Knowledge of development principles, fundraising strategies and ethics, and familiarity with “moves management” donor tracking systems
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- In conjunction with colleagues in Development, assists the Vice President for University Advancement in the planning, evaluation and coordination of all university fundraising endeavors
- Develops, manages, and solicits an active portfolio of 150+ donors and prospective donors
- Writes proposals, follow-up letters, and introductory letters, and prepares background information and materials for cultivation and solicitation activities
- Prepares and enters reports of significant donor contact into Banner data system
- Responsible for donor management in one of four regions and Michigan as assigned
- Plans and maintains visiting travel schedule of 10 or more days per month
- Coordinates and implements donor-related cultivation events
- Establishes short and long-term goals for funding sources and enlists support from members of institution’s staff and volunteers
- Works closely with Advancement colleagues in Alumni, Development, Planned Giving and Trust Services, and Howard Performing Arts Center to fulfill the goals specified in Andrews University’s Strategic Five Year Plan
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

- High energy, personal initiative, maturity, and integrity are essential
- Ability to use office technology and information systems (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and donor database (Banner)

Work environment
This position will be both in an office setting and remotely as one works from the road.
