Position summary
The Underwriting Director is in charge of soliciting corporate support for WAUS, as well as scheduling underwriting spots to be read on air, doing billing, and managing Day Sponsor announcements.
Qualifications summary
Previous sales experience is helpful, good people skills, a bachelor's degree is preferred, a passion for classical music and WAUS, and the skill to help area businesses build partnerships with the station are a must.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
The Underwriting Director will be responsible for all aspects of corporate support for WAUS. Duties will include:
- Cultivating potential business partners
- Writing contracts
- Copywriting and scheduling spots
- Billing
- Maintaining and renewing existing underwriting accounts
WAUS uses Blackbaud Raisers Edge software for donors and billing, as well as traffic software to help schedule spots for air. Familiarity with this software is useful but not necessary, but a comfort level with computers and a willingness to learn is essential.
Sales experience and a college degree are preferred, but can be waived for the right candidate.
Position includes a base salary plus commissions and full benefits (health, vacation, education).

Ability to learn and use Raiser's Edge fundraising software.
Interpersonal interactions
Excellent interpersonal skills a must.
Physical demands
Work can be done over the phone and sitting at a desk with the occasional visit to an underwriter.
