Position summary
This position is a faculty appointment (.75 FTE) with a special assignment of DScPT Director. As a faculty it includes administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences (SRS). As Director, primary responsibilities are to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and/or monitor all activities within the DScPT program including supervision of associated faculty for the DScPT program. Additionally, to work collaboratively with the other School Program Directors and the School Chairperson. As a faculty member, primary responsibilities are to teach in the DScPT program.
Qualifications summary
- Earned entry-level physical therapist degree from a CAPTE accredited program.
- Earned advanced doctorate (academic or professional).
- At least two years of in-person and online teaching experience
- At least two years of directing an academic program (preferred post-professional and fellowship experience)
- Service in leadership roles within a given national professional organization preferred.
- Track record of ongoing research with publications in peer reviewed journals and/or professional presentations preferred.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
DScPT Program Director administrative duties include:
- Promote the mission and vision of the University, College of Health and Human Service and the School of Rehabilitation Sciences
- Actively engage in Postprofessional (PP) faculty/staff meeting on a regular basis to review ongoing program needs and activities
- Provide administration of the DScPT programs
- Act as a liaison between Andrews University SRS and ASPIRE.
- Oversee DScPT program associated faculty.
- Review all course evaluations with the faculty member and establish an improvement plan as appropriate
- Periodically review online courses to monitor performance and student interaction
- Mentor all new associated faculty on best practice for conducting online course
- Assist in resolution of any problems that arise between students and associated faculty
- Assist the OCA beyond general advising of prospective DScPT students as needed
- Present, to Postprofessional Faculty Council, student cases who are not meeting academic or professional standards of the program and require action.
- Assist School Chairperson in developing DScPT budget and monitor budget monthly. This includes forecasting student enrollment, equipment needs, associated faculty salaries, etc.
- Collaborate with College Recruiting and Marketing Coordinator to develop an annual marketing plan for all course offerings in the DScPT program and continuing education courses
- Collaborate with ASPIRE’s Marketing Coordinator to develop an annual marketing plan for all ASPIRE course offerings and Fellowship courses offered in the DScPT program and continuing education courses.
- Monitor and ensure the execution of marketing plans.
- Engage in recruiting and marketing at professional meetings by working in the Andrews University PT booth.
- Conduct regular assessment of the DScPT program, including academic content, curriculum design, program goals and student learning outcomes; implement change based on assessment as appropriate
- Maintain program morale and motivate faculty/staff within the DScPT program.
- Explore and pursue new opportunities for the DScPT Program
- Attend School, College and University faculty meetings and committees as requested.
- Evening and weekend hours may be required.
As faculty member additional duties include:
- Carry regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, research, and administration.
- Work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
- Prepare course materials, deliver lectures, conduct labs, administer and grade student assignments/examinations.
- Develop quality learning experiences that promote critical thinking in students
- Compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
- Evaluate students' performance to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning.
- Serve as instructor for independent studies as needed.
- Design and conduct research in particular field of knowledge.
- Present and publish research findings in peer reviewed forums.
- Direct, advise and provide mentorship to Postprofessional doctoral students in research.
- Student advising and mentorship on academic curricula.
- Serve on School, College and University committees as assigned by School Chairperson.
- Arrange accommodations for students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Supervisory responsibilities
- Co-supervise Operations Coordinator & Advisor, as well as associated faculty within the Postprofessional program.
- Supervise students, student workers and graduate assistants in their assigned tasks.

- Track record of ongoing research with publications in peer reviewed journals and/or professional presentations preferred.

- Current knowledge and experience in the use of information and computer applications, such as word processing, statistical analysis tools, spreadsheets, or proven ability to learn these skills.
- Exhibits a willingness to adhere to Christian principles, specifically SDA principles.
- A member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good and regular standing preferred.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

- Physical demands of this job are in keeping with being a faculty member in an educational institution.
- Be willing to travel by personal vehicle or commercial transportation for distant assignments and professional conferences.
