Position summary
Assists with employment processes, education of other departments with their part in the hiring process, answers requests by mail, phone or in person questions from students
. Proficient and speedy typing skills desired.
Qualifications summary
Proficiency in office/clerical/computer skills needed (Must submit office skill test results). These can be acquired by study and /or experience. A minimum of six months to a year is required to become acquainted with the institution and procedures of the job. High organizational, prioritizing and communication skills are needed. Accuracy and confidentiality is a must. Willing to put in extra hours at the beginning of each quarter.
Duties and responsibilities
Includes the following, as well as other responsibilities that may be assigned as needed
- Assist in answering employment questions, via phone, email, and in person
- Assist in the appropriate collection and processing of employment paperwork and filing them electronically
- Assist with processes that may improve EPAFs /PAFs being applied by the applier faster
- Assist with maintaining employment aduits.
- Assist in the farewell check process as needed
- Assistance with maintaining and updating student employee information. (Dehaan work awards, terminations etc.)
- Assist in the administration of office skills tests to all student employee applicants.
- Will serve as a backup to Employment Office functions
- Access to student and occasionally staff records. Confidentiality is required for all information viewed or received.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate fluently in English is required.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employers, students and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic accounting skills are necessary for the student insurance.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions an decimals.
Technical competencies
Ability to use a computer, printer, scanner, and fax machine. Proficient and speedy typing skills desired. Ability to use a computer to write, edit, and maintain Word and Google documents, spreadsheets, process manuals, emails, Adobe Acrobat Pro, digital files, and other possible tasks.
Interpersonal interactions
Ability to work with all types of personalities in challenging situations as well as posse tact, empathy and good telephone manners.
Must be alert and accurate especially under great pressure which usually comes at registration times. Ability to relate to employees in a professional yet compassionate manner. Must be able to help create and maintain a calm and controlled atmosphere during intense confrontations.
Physical demands
Some physical effort but mostly sitting.
Work environment
No particular work hazards. Irregular working hours needed especially during registration and billing periods.
