Position summary

Mechanic: Assist current mechanics with auto maintence and operation of heavy equipment vehicles - 1 person needed.

Driver: transporting students to and from transportation centers - must be 21 years of age and have a valid US driver's license for 3 years or more.

Must be a registered Andrews student and be 18+ years old and have a valid drivers license. 

 

Duties and responsibilities

Mechanic:  This is not a teaching opportunity - applicant must know general auto maintenance and the use of appropriate tools.

Driver: Transporting AU customers/students/faculty and staff to and from transportation centers:  Must be 21+  years of age and have a valid US drivers license for at least 3 years.

Flexible hours - hours will vary.

Supervisory responsibilities

None.

Qualifications

MUST BE AT LEAST 18+ 21 YEARS OF AGE but perferably 21+.

Have had a U.S. Drivers License for 3 years.

Must be able to communicate well in English.

Mechanic - must have knowledge of auto mechanics and use of appropriate tools. 

Technical competencies

Able to communicate via email and text with Transportation office and customers.

Interpersonal interactions

Must be able to communicate well verbally with customers and Transportation workers.  Must be able to complete jobs without needing to be overseen at all times.  Must be able to solve problems and network with other university departments. 

Physical demands

Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.

Must be able to bend, kneel, crawl around vehicles.

Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work with large tools.

Must be able to lift tools, heavy items onto shelves or over head.

Drivers: must be able to drive at night.

 

Work environment

Noise from vehicles and heavy equipment present at all times.

The use of gas, oils and chemicals in the shop can cause some fumes/smells that are common to vehicle repair.

Floors and shop environment can be dirty or wet at anytime.
