CUSTODIAL SERVICES - Custodial Associate

Position summary

Responsible for cleaning a number of Univeristy buildings with the use of student workers. Supervises, coordinates and evaluates the performance of student workers engaged in Custodial Services, to the educational building of Andrews University

Qualifications summary

Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds on a daily basis.

Must be a team player,able to work well as a team cleaner or leader.

Must be on time and dressed in in team uniform.

Knowledege and experience in cleaning is preferred.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Assigns,schedules, directs, inspects and gives training and guidance to the student custodians.to ensure custodial services are provided in the assigned buildings as per the levels of cleaning defined by Custodial Services.

Participates in departmental meeting and planning.

Do the jobs not covered by students.

Come in at irrregular hours as needed for emergencies including weekends.

Supervisory responsibilities

Directly supervise 10-20 student employees. Perform supervisory responsibilties in accordance with the Universitie's policies. set schedules and make sure the daily jobs get done.

Responsibilites include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Be able to lift heavy items.

Be able to be trained on different cleaning machines.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Computer skills will be required. Willing to be trained on forklifts

Interpersonal interactions

Must be able to relate to international student in an advisory role, and relate to the cultural differences that may impact job proformance.

Physical demands

While preforming the duties of this job,the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, stoop, kneel,crouch, crawl, listenl, lift Up to 100 lbs,and smell. Must be able use cleaning machines, extractors-buffers- heavy duty machines. Must be able to read the safety data sheets (SDS)

Must be able to handle all types of chemicals and their smells.

Work environment

While performing the duties of thes job, the employee is frequently exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
