Position summary
We are looking for a dedicated and responsible individual to help manage the kitchen in our child care center. You will be involved in all aspects meal distribution (breakfast, lunch and snack). No meal preperation is involved.
Background check, finger printing, TB test and additional job related trainings required.
Commitment to work 5 days per week Monday to Friday 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Additional hours are flexible for a total of 15-20 hours per week.
Qualifications summary
• Must be 18 years of age
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Must have current Michigan child care fingerprint/background check or will get fingerprint/background check.
• Must have current CPR/First Aid Certification or will to get CPR/First Aid.
• Must be a student of Andrews University
• Accuracy and efficiency is required
Duties and responsibilities
- Follow all safe food handling and general safety and sanitation procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Transport lunches safety from the Cafeteria to The Crayon Box promptly and safely.
- Distribute lunch to all classrooms on time with accurate serving sizes.
- Responsible for classroom lunch dishes
- Distribute daily breakfast and snack components.
- Help store and put away food product
- Follow all safe food storage guidelines
- Be sensitive to allergy and specific dietary requirements
- Informs Director of any concerns, changes in meal count and situations that effect the center.
Supervisory responsibilities
May supervise student workers, as determined by the Director
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma.
- Commitment to work 5 days per week Monday to Friday 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
- Must love children.
- Must have a warm and friendly personality with sensitivity to the feelings and needs of both children and adults.
- Display a willingness to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the center's philosophy and mission.
- Job requires much physical activity and a high energy level.

Physical demands
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 0% sitting, 50% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Ability to wear a mask at all times while at work under the current guidelines of The State of Michigan is required.
Work environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
