FLIGHT SCHOOL - Faculty-Aeronautical Tech

Position summary

Teach undergraduate courses in the Aviation Flight Program, including advanced aviation flight topics.

Assist in managing the FAA Part 141Flight School curriculum.

Flight instruct in single and multi-engine aircraft.

Maintain active research.

Advising students and other academic related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications summary

Successful applicants will possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, a PhD or Masters in aviation or a related field preferred.

Applicants must hold a Commercial Multi-engine / Single-engine Airplane Class Certificate.  An ATP is preferred.

Part 121 or Part 135 or equivalent military and/or mission flying experience preferred.

CFI, CFII required.  MEI Certificate preferred.

A & P certificate preferred


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Teach flight and ground school classes in the department’s Part 141 Flight Program.

Teach Advanced aviation flight topics as necessary.

Teach academic courses as necessary.

Assist with administration and oversight of the Part 141 Flight Program.

Overseeing and providing primary, advanced and multi-engine flight instruction in the department’s aircraft.

Computer proficient

Maintaining active research including involving students in that research.

Providing academic advising to current flight students.

Other academic and committee responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities

Assist with the supervision of the student and staff flight instructors.

Assist with the weekly supervision of all flight operations.

Assist in planning and executing Flight Program Safety meetings.

Qualifications

Successful applicants will possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation.  A PhD or Masters in aviation or a related field is preferred.

Applicants must hold a Commercial Multi-engine / Single-engine Airplane Class Certificate.  An ATP is preferred.

At least two (2) years of:  PIC / SIC under Part 121, or PIC Part 135 or equivalent military or mission experience is preferred.

Current, or previously held and eligible to renew Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, with a Multi-engine Instructor certificate preferred.  Equivalent US military experience will be considered.

Prior experience in FAA Part 141 Flight Schools, turbine engine type ratings, mission or bush flying experience is highly desirable.

Technology proficient (MS Office, iPad, online scheduling).

Must have a FAA Second Class Medical.

A & P certificate preferred.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Applicant must be able to give instruction and evaluation of pilots at various levels of experience.

Interpersonal interactions

Must be comfortable dealing with students and interacting with the other faculty/staff.

Physical demands

Applicant must be able to fuel aircraft, move small aircraft and work in variety of weather conditions outdoors.  Must be able to lift sixty (60) pound sand bags.

A typical airpark/school setting.
