Position summary

The Visual Art, Communication & Design Department seeks a Professor of Communication to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in communication skills, persuasion, gender communication, group dynamics and leadership, communication in the classroom, and magazine feature and article writing. This faculty member will also academically advise students as well as be an active and participating member of the department faculty.

Qualifications summary

A master of arts in communnication is required. A PhD in Communication, or related field, is preferred. Relevant professional experience in writing and journalism is a plus. Teaching experience on the college level strongly preferred.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Teach a full load of four classes per semester on the main campus, and in person.

Academically advise Communication majors and minors.

Actively participate in committee assignments, and faculty meetings.

Participate in departmental meetings, assemblies, and recruiting events.

Supervisory responsibilities

None.

Interpersonal interactions

This position requires a great deal of interaction with traditional college students.The  candidate must be comfortable in a teaching and advising role. Also, this candidate must be capable of inspiring college students in their pursuit of a communnicationn degree. The ability to work successfully with peers is a must.

The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate. Normal office and classroom environment. Evening, weekend, and online courses may be required. The work environment conditions for this job are similar to those found in a regular office and classroom environment.
