Position summary
Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Leadership, with emphasis in institutional leadership and church life leadership. Full-time (75-100%) teaching a full graduate load of courses for the Department of Practical and Applied Theology of the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary.
Qualifications summary
Person with significant professional pastoral experience in the Seventh-day Adventist context holding an earned terminal degree with an emphasis in Leadership, or closely related area. Must have a passion for developing pastors and a commitment to research and publication of relevance to the advancement of understanding leadership practices.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Teach a full load of leadership courses, with emphasis in institutional leadership and church life leadership.
- Advise and provide mentorship to master’s and doctoral students.
- Participate in Department, Seminary, and University life and responsibilities.
- Carry regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, research, publication, and administration.
Supervisory responsibilities
- Work with Administrative Assistant
- Supervise Graduate Assistant
Qualifications
- An earned doctoral degree (DMin or PhD) in the area of Leadership, or closely related area.
- Demonstrated competence in teaching or pastoral training.
- Pastoral ministry experience in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
- A record of academic engagement and publication and a desire for an ongoing research agenda in area of expertise.
- An understanding of adult learning practices and how to apply them in the context of theological education.
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate well with colleagues, and a disposition conducive to interacting winsomely with students, staff, faculty, and administration.
- An active commitment to impartially interacting with students, staff, faculty, and administration in a fashion that recognizes and respects ethnic and cultural differences.
- A personal history of health human relations, high moral integrity, and Christian spiritual maturity.
- A commitment to mentoring students.
- Capacity to communicate effectively and dynamically both on a popular and scholarly level.
- Solid support of Seventh-day Adventist beliefs and mission.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
- Technical competencies as needed to fulfill teaching, service, research, advising, and administrative responsibilities.
- Ability to prepare and organize a wide variety of documents, reports, files, and information in various formats.
- Ability to teach on various online platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, LearningHub) and delivery formats (face-to-face, hybrid, virtual).

Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate well with colleagues, and a disposition conducive to interacting winsomely with students, staff, faculty, and administration.
Physical demands
Physical abilities as needed to fulfill teaching, service, research, and advising responsibilities.
