Position summary
Adventist Information Ministry seeks a student employee with previous IT work experience or current Computer Science major to work as a Junior System Admin in our IT department.
Qualifications summary
Working primarily in Windows and under the supervision of the IT Director. The Junior Assistant must be a self-starter and independent thinker. Able to identify issues and present solutions in a timely manner.
Duties and responsibilities
What you’ll do:
- Network design and maintenance
- Server set up and maintenance
- Offsite backup system maintenance
- Email management
- Maintaining our sophisticated software-driven phone system
- Maintaining workstation computers, monitors, phones, speakers, and peripherals
- Build and deploy workstations
- Inventory control management
- Router and switch configuration
- Database setup or maintenance
- Website development and maintenance
- Documenting software, procedure or policy development
- Other duties as assigned
- Work primarily with Windows

Qualifications
Requirements:
- This is a year-round position well adapted to student schedules. Candidates willing to serve longer than one school year preferred.
- Must be able to work closely with members from different levels of the organization.
- Must be self-starter and independent thinker
Special Requirements:
Minimum
15 hours per week when school is in session with on-call rotation for after-hours support and additional hours during most vacations and summer.

Technical competencies
Ability to work with databases, learn new sophisticated software, configure hardware, maintain servers and network.
