MARKETING & ENROLLMENT MANAGMENT - Freshman Enrollment Counselor
Salaried Full-time (75-100%)
Serves as an enrollment coordinator to effectively build relationships and recruit students from assigned schools within the Lake Union and territories within the North American Division. Coordinates and schedules recruiting appointments and trips to these schools. Helps with visits and events on campus for prospective students. Works on evening and weekends as needed for travel and events.
A successful individual must: have excellent communication, planning and organizational skills, be detail oriented, must be a self-starter; be able to relate to different cultures; be able to engage youth in a variety of settings; public speaking ability; interact easily with students’ influencers in the college choice decision (i.e. parents/school officials); have excellent critical thinking, leadership, and decision-making abilities; able to travel as needed.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Schedules monthly visits to assigned Lake Union Academies Follow visitation and communication plan from marketing calendar with individualization by school as needed
- Plan and conducts Senior interviews in the fall and spring of each year at key regional high schools
- Arranges and attends yearly Financial Aid Workshops for key regional high schools
- Arranges for AU scholarships at appropriate high school ceremonies
- Is knowledgeable of academic calendars and newspapers for area high schools – find areas where AU can be marketed, seek opportunities to communicate directly with students
- Watch for information about students in area newspapers, LUC/Conference papers
- Attends assigned NAD recruitment tour and actively collects interests and applicants
- Represents Andrews at assigned camp meetings and graduations
- Manages prospective students and develops ongoing relationship
- Projects a professional image throughout the various marketing and recruitment activities
- Knowledgeable about campus departments
- Counsel and advise students on various majors
- Perform duties in assigned geographical regions – direct recruiting and communication with potential students and their parents through phone calls, letters, and emails
- Meet with prospective students who visit from assigned territories
- Assist as assigned with the Preview Weekend planning, coordinating, and implementing
- Provides prospective students and families with financial information including scholarships, grants, loans, and payment options and further directs them to the appropriate student financial advisor.
- Manages recruitment budget and provides accurate documentation to Director of Recruitment Services
- Processes student applications for assigned territories
- Works as backup for other enrollment counselors in helping with processing and serving student needs
- Participates in specific admissions activities as they relate to the needs of the students
- Actively works to ensure data integrity
- Becomes familiar with the various department admissions requirements and disseminates materials and information to prospects
- Actively participate in assigned meetings with recruiters, department, and combined meetings with Student Financial Services
- Assist Student Visits with individual visits and University Preview Weekends
- Assist/support recruiters in recruiting initiatives/activities, welcome programs, etc
- Support Enrollment initiatives as a team

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Holds at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience
- Exemplifies a conservative Seventh-day Adventist Christian lifestyle, including modest, professional dress and no ear jewelry.

- Displays exceptional time management and organizational qualities.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification preferred; or multiple years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference offered to candidates who have attended Andrews University.
Outstanding communication skills with mastery of public speaking, and written English language is important. Must be able to read and interpret documents and be able to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or organization employees. Additional language proficiency desired.
Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Able to read and interpret financial statements.
Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess valid driver's license (for a minimum of three years to use university vehicles to transport other individuals) and be willing to travel and use personal car when necessary. Must carry the required insurance levels on their personal vehicles.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Ability to work with databases and spreadsheets and an understanding of high school and undergraduate college transcripts. Able to use effectively and efficiently the basic Microsoft suite as well as able to quickly learn and use the CRM - Recruit and relative interactions within Banner. Able to communicate effectively and professionally by phone and email.
Able to interact with in a positive and constructive manner with excellent customer service skills with all constituencies including: Prospective students and their parents, Enrollment team members (staff and student), individuals in campus academic and non-academic departments, and administrators. Able to interact with colleagues in a supportive way that also maintains the discipline needed to accomplish the work of the department.

The following work environment characteristics represent the atmosphere an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Works primarily inside in rooms with appropriately functioning air handling equipment except with traveling or in off-campus assignments. Is interactive with other campus departments and personnel.
