Position summary

Annual Giving focuses on developing and implementing annual fundraising campaigns for Andrews University. The Student Assistant for Annual Giving assists the Coordinator of Annual Campaigns in developing and implementing successful campaigns.

The Student Assistant for Annual Giving will engage with friends and supporters of Andrews University through multiple channels, including mail, e-mail, social media, and phone. The Student Assistant for Annual Giving will also collaborate with other university departments to establish fundraising campaigns. This role also involves data entry and data analysis. 

The Student Assistant for Annual Giving should be organized, thorough, creative, cheerful, and goal-oriented.

Qualifications summary



Duties and responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the Coordinator of Annual Campaigns to develop and implement fundraising campaigns

Create, schedule, and manage content postings to social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube

Analyze social media metrics and make recommendations on current and future social media strategies. Implement new social media strategies in collaboration with the Coordinator of Annual Campaigns

Create, schedule, and manage e-mail blasts to targeted groups using a variety of e-mail marketing platforms, including Outlook, Banner Communication Module (BCM), and other platforms

Analyze e-mail marketing metrics and make recommendations on current and future e-mail marketing strategies. Implement new e-mail marketing strategies in collaboration with the Coordinator of Annual Campaigns 

Learn computer programs to assist with data entry

Routinely perform data entry to ensure our database contains accurate information

Assist with the processing of incoming and outgoing bulk mail. Make deliveries and pick-ups in other departments as needed

Maintain and/or create spreadsheets, reports, and logs as needed 

Keep calendars and boards organized and up to date

Collaborate with other departments to coordinate fundraising campaigns

May assist with special projects, research, and events, including Homecoming/Alumni Weekend

Manage multi-line phone systems efficiently while providing great customer service

Maintain strict confidentiality when dealing with sensitive materials and issues, including donor records

Must be comfortable working collaboratively. A high customer service standard is expected when interacting with colleagues and donors alike.

Must be comfortable communicating in positive ways to resolve conflicts.

Good interpersonal and communication skills with team members; from time to time the student worker may also connect with donors and must use excellent customer service skills.

Customer service expectations include making eye contact, smiling, introducing yourself to others, using moderate levels of enthusiasm while speaking, active listening, and addressing items from team members and donors alike. 

Must be comfortable interacting with persons of all ages, ethnicities, and sociocultural perspectives. Must be comfortable being flexible and open-minded while resolving conflicts.

Physical demands

Extensive sitting. Should be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Occasional bending, stretching and lifting. Occasional travel to other locations on campus 

Work environment

Our office is located on the second floor of Griggs Building B. Typical office environment. We have snacks! Low to moderate levels of noise and activity. Some job responsibilities may require working in the building warehouse. Some dust and/or other allergens are present.
