CHILDRENS LEARNING CENTER - Summer Camp Counselor

Position summary

Under guidance of the Camp Director, the Counselor oversees an assigned group of campers. Responsible for knowledge of the whereabouts of all assigned campers, ensuring safety standards, instructing campers of camp rules and regulation, maintaining discipline, and guiding campers throughout all daily activities. Works within the framework of the program, policies, standards and expectations of Andrews University and the State of Michigan. Must be energetic, creative, positive, and have the ability to work well with staff and campers alike.  Reports to the Camp Director and/or Assistant Camp Director.  Be available to work June 5, 2023 - August 18, 2023.

Qualifications summary




Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Will supervise Counselors-in-Training assigned to the same group.

Physical demands

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting,

carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and

significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 25% walking, and 70% standing. The job is performed under

some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.  

Work environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
