Position summary

Oversees all aspects of the MA Counselor Education students’ clinical training experiences for the GPC department.  Help in coordinating departmental efforts in establishing training sites for MA student placement.  The coordinator collaborates with the Andrews Community Counseling Center Director as well as other faculty in constructing student application guidelines and procedures for counseling students. The coordinator will have both administrative and teaching duties. 

Qualifications summary




Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

* Liaison for the department, site supervisors, and students to ensure the highest of quality training experiences for students.

* Inform site supervisors regarding departmental training requirements and ensure sites provide supervision and training opportunities as required.

* Manage clinical training placement for all master counseling students and approve contract paperwork. 

* Manage data and documentation of students’ training experiences.

* Committed to maintaining an open line of communication between faculty, students, and site supervisors to proactively deal with issues that may arise.  Respond to general inquiries regarding practicum and internship.

* Be available to teach courses at various times, including evenings. Some travel may be required.

* Stay informed of current trends and new approaches to counseling, and new developments in the counselor education field via professional development activities.  Maintain professional development/growth according to personal needs and certification requirements.

* Maintain an active research agenda demonstrated through presentations at national conferences, and publications.  Participate in student dissertation committees, serving as either chair or member. 

Supervisory responsibilities

Directly supervise 1-2 graduate assistants. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

Candidates are required to have a doctoral degree in Counselor Education preferably with a state licensure as a counselor (LPC)
