WELLNESS CENTER - Asst Custodial Supervisor

Position summary

The assistant custodial supervisor works with the custodial supervisor to maintain a clean facility, supervise student custodial employees, and contribute the day to day function of the facility with the rest of the team.

Qualifications summary

Custodial and/or maintenance experience preferred, though some training can be provided in either area.



Must be physically able to be on their feet for long periods of time, lift heavy weight (75-100 lbs), and work strenuously at times.



Must be able to work outside of regular business hours when necessary, sometime late at night, and respond to questions and calls after hours.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Cleaning and general custodial responsibilities.



Co-managing and supervising the team of custodial student workers. This involves some HR processes, training, monitoring of work, accountability measures, development, etc.



Contributing to the ACW team by collaborating on vision casting, marketing, project development and execution, events, etc.



Reporting maintenance needs and working closely with Plant Services when maintenance needs exceed capabilities and/or resources.

Supervisory responsibilities

The Facilities Manager will work closely with the Custodial Supervisor to manage students employed for custodial responsibilities. Management can include (but is not limited to):



Interviewing and selecting potential employees.



Training student workers.



Overseeing quality and completion of assignments given to student workers, and correcting and encouraging when needed.



Investing in the growth and development of student workers by building relationships.



Contributing to discipline and executing terminations if and when needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.



Be able to lift and move heavy items.



Must be a quick learner and able to pick up new skills on the job.



Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Must be able to interact comfortably with a computer and utilize basic programs/software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

Interpersonal interactions

Must have strong supervisor skills, a desire to develop student workers and be able to easily interact with college-age people.



Must enjoy working on a team and collaborating with others.



Must thrive in a fast-paced environment with varying needs daily.



Must display a willingness to learn and aqcuire new skills.

Physical demands

Physical demands include lifting heavy weight, the ability to walk or jog and move about quickly, ability navigate a variety of surfaces comfortably (smooth or wet floors, stairs, etc), and to perform vigorous physical work when necessary (scrubbing, wiping, bending over, squatting, reaching, etc).

 

Work environment

Some areas of the building may have noise levels exceeding 80db. The physical space is large and accessing it requires opening doors, climbing stairs, etc.
