GENERAL COUNSEL - Asst to OGC/Asst to Dir of Compliance

Position summary
This position provides administrative support to the University's General Counsel, while also providing more limited assistance to the School of Distance Education's Director of Compliance. About 75-90% of your activities will be with the Office of General Counsel and about 10-25% with Compliance in the School of Distance Education.

Duties and responsibilities
Assistant to General Counsel Duties & Responsiblities
- Ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the Office of the General Counsel by managing calendar, tasks, email, U.S. mail, travel, etc.
- Manage the processing of affiliate agreements for University departments requiring student clinical rotations
- Assist with preparing and managing contracts and other legal documents, matter files, litigation, subpoenas, real estate transactions, corporate resolutions, corporation annual reports, etc.
- Manage office budget, expenses, financial reports, etc.
- Create, maintain and continuously improve various OGC systems to increase efficiency
Assistant to Director of Compliance School of Distance Ed
- Assist with the preparation and processing of agreements to provide Andrews University off-campus programing at affiliated universities in the U.S. and abroad
- Manage the process for obtaining approval of adjunct faculty appointments to teach Andrews University Off-Campus Programs

- Ability to set priorities in a busy work environment
- Bachelor’s degree and previous legal experience preferred

Technical competencies
- Above average proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency in Adobe Pro
- Willingness to learn new software systems, including case management software and the e-filing systems and requirements of various courts
Interpersonal interactions
Must be comfortable interacting with University administrators, faculty, and staff, administrators at affiliated colleges and universities, and staff members at law firms, title companies, courts, and various governmental entities
