Position summary
Nurture, interact, support and create a safe and inclusive environment for children. Responsibilities include managing a group of children Monday-Friday afternoons, supervising all aspects of the day, leading children through a weekly schedule and participating/teaching/assisting in all activities. Must be 18 years old with a high school diploma. The applicant will work 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm Monday - Thursday and 12:00 - 4:30 pm Fridays.

Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- The caregiver will be trained in all aspects of their job.
- Leads their class without supervision.
- Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
- Assists and coordinates snacks, meals, rest time and bathroom activities.
- Provides the children with verbal praises and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.
- Maintains the Crayon Box's professional attitude and work behavior.
- Observes all rules and regulations of The Crayon Box and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
- Assists in other capacities, as determined by the Director.
- Follows the schedule, as determined by the Director.
Supervisory responsibilities
May supervise student workers, as determined by the Director
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma.
- Past success working with children.
- Must be flexible to work a possibly inconsistent schedule based on the needs of our children.
- Must have a warm and friendly personality with sensitivity to the feelings and needs of both children and adults.
- Display a willingness to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the center's philosophy and mission.
- Job requires much physical activity and a high energy level.
- CPR and First Aid certifications preferred but not required.
- Willing to be trained in infant safe sleep, shaken baby and other child related topics.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

- Must be comfortable interacting with the director, parents and other teachers
- Must understand the social-emotional needs of school age children.
Physical demands
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 3% walking, and 55% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Ability to wear a mask at all times while at work under the current guidelines of The State of Michigan is required.
Work environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
