Position summary
Assist the kindergarten teacher by providing help to students, supervision and assorted classroom related responsibilities as assigned.

Duties and responsibilities
- Assisting in providing individual and small-group review
- Identifying and alerting the teacher to the needs of individual students
- Preparing and organizing materials
- Performing a variety of office assistance tasks
- Helping students comply with classroom rules and procedures
Supervisory responsibilities
Assisting in providing individual and small-group review.
Helping students comply with classroom rules and procedures.
Supervising various in and out of classroom activities.

Technical competencies
The employee must be able to operate at a reasonable level of competency, equipment common to the Teacher Assistant position but not limited to a computer, overhead projector, copy and laminating machines, telephone, paper cutter etc.

Physical demands
- Duties performance typically in school settings to include: classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium, and recreational areas.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 25 pounds may be required. Other physical activities may be required.
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
- Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
- The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards.
- Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management in the learning environment, support is required on assigned days.
- Regular contact with other staff members and building administrator(s) is required on assigned days as a substitute.
Work environment
The employee is subject to working in a generally well-lighted, spacious, and ventilated classroom environment approximately 85% of the time while the remainder of the time is spent supervising students outside, in the gymnasium, on field trips, etc.
