LIBRARY - MMC -- ensemble library manager

Position summary

The Student Assistant for the Brass & Woodwind Ensemble Library assists the music librarian in maintaing the MMC's special ensemble collection as well as performing general customer service and office duties,

Learning specialized library software, maintaining systamatic workflows, and updating multiple spreadsheets required.

This job needs a commitment of at least 5-10 hours week to be done well. Up to 20 hours and additional summer projects may be availible.

Qualifications summary


The sucessful applicant will possess:


  • A working knowlege of western musical notation (high-school band or choir, piano lessons, etc)

  • Conversational or better fluency in English

  • Willingness to learn new skills

  • Technical aptitude for Google Suite, other software, and spreadsheets

  • Friendly, helpful disposition

  • The ablity to be organized, detailed, and self-motivated 

  • Knowledge of additional languages beyond English is a plus

Physical demands

Requires ability to sit for up to an hour at a time. Bending and lifting up to 20lbs often occurs. Need to be able to kneel, stretch, and climb a step stool to shelve books.

Work environment

Usual office-type work environment. Some chatter and noise, some quiet periods. Light dust present.
