Position summary

The Training and Retirement Specialist is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the development of training activities that support the strategic goal of the University and HR needs.  They will oversee the University's Retirement and Training programs and recommend adjustments to the programs as needed.  It is essential that the individual maintains open communications throughout the University to foster an open, collaborative environment for growth and continous improvement.  This position will provide support to the Associate VP and Associate Director by managing a variety of tasks to help the office function at a high level of efficiency and professionalism.

Education and/or Experience:

College degree or two to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal documents, retirement applications, working policy manuals, procedure manuals, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions.  Ability to write personalized correspondence and reports in easy to understand language.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, electronic or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in diverse situations.
