CHILDRENS LEARNING CENTER - Substitute Caregiver

Position summary

We are looking for a dedicated, responsible, loving and creative individual to help teach and care for the children in our center. You will be involved in all aspects of education and care for children ages 2 weeks through 12 years.  Must be flexible to work a possibly inconsistent schedule based on the needs of the center.

 

Qualifications summary




Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

• Provide basic needs for children



• Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities



• Use various leaning methods such as stories, games and drawing to intellectually stimulate children.



• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children



• Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents



• Work with young children to teach basic skills such as colors, letter and number recognition, shapes, social skills and personal hygiene



• Manage activities, imaginative play, bathroom breaks, meals and rest time



• Introduce children to new age-appropriate activities



• Clean and sanitize all toys and play areas



• Monitor and gently correct children’s behavior and adapt to the various needs of children and parents



• Have patience and compassion suitable for working with young children



• Have the spirit of flexibility and a Christ-like attitude in all that they say and do

Supervisory responsibilities

May supervise student workers, as determined by the Director

Must be comfortable interacting with parents and teachers. 



Must love children. 

Physical demands

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 25% walking, and 70% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.  



 

 

Work environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
