Position summary

This is a full time (38 hours/week) 12 month position. The Lead Teacher will work in a newly remodeled classroom with 30 children and two assistants. The Lead Teacher will be in a team of three Lead Teachers working with our three, four, five and school age children.
Qualifications summary
- 19 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in an ECE Center.
- Ability to be highly punctual and to successfully allocate and manage time.
- Loves kids
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for both of the following: (a) Overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the classroom program and child assessment and (b) Overseeing child care staff members for a specific group of children and overall care and supervision of children
- The Lead Teacher must be able to lead the classroom and care for children which may include distributing lunches and/or washing dishes.
- Lead a class without supervision and possibily without additional teachers.
- Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
- Manage day-to-day classroom activities, including structured lessons, free play, bathroom breaks, lunch time and rest time for students
- Provides the children with verbal praises and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.
- Maintains the Crayon Box's professional attitude and work behavior.
- Observes all rules and regulations of The Crayon Box and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
- Assists in other capacities, as determined by the Director.
- Ability to express themselves well in oral and written English
- Follows the schedule, as determined by the Director.
Supervisory responsibilities
- This position requires supervision of children. May supervise other employees, as determined by the Director
Qualifications
- Must be at least 19 years of age with high school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in an ECE center.
- 3 hours of MiRegistry approved training in each of the following areas: Program management, Observation, documentation, and assessment, Teaching and learning.
- 6 hours of MiRegistry approved training in any of the following areas: Interactions and guidance, Challenging behaviors, Trauma informed practices
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children
- Cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable
- Must have a warm and friendly personality with sensitivity to the feelings and needs of both children and adults.
- Display a willingness to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the center's philosophy and mission.
- Job requires much physical activity and a high energy level.
- Ability to lead and oversee staff of all ages and levels of experience. Ability to work long hours, in indoor and outdoor settings, requiring regular physical activity, standing for long periods.

Physical demands
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 25% walking, and 70% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Work environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
