ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - Teacher Assistant

Position summary
Assist the classroom teacher by providing help to students, supervision, and assorted classroom related responsibilities as assigned.
Be available Monday through Thursday 8:15a- 3:45pm and Friday 8:15a-12:30pm.
Qualifications summary
Preferred bachelor's degree and/or teaching experience. Ability to work with children and a supervising teacher. Basic technology/computer skills (Microsoft Word, power point, and excel). Dependable and consistent committed SDA Christian. Team player.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
Supervising children during lunch, recess, and dismissal.
Assisting students in large/small groups and with individual work.
Be able to create worksheets, posters, and other computer related duties as assigned.
Helping students comply with classroom and school rules and procedures.
Grading, filing, copying as needed.
Supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Preferred teaching experience. Some educational coursework. Ability to work with children and a supervising teacher. Proactive and creative thinker, dependable support for classroom teacher. Be a team player—work cooperatively with administration and coworkers. Must be a committed SDA Christian.

Technical competencies
The employee must be able to operate at a reasonable level of competency equipment common to the teaching profession such as a computer, copy machine, document camera, overhead projector, telephone, and tools such as vacuum, brooms, mops, etc.

Physical demands
The job requires a full range of body movements including sitting, standing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, walking, stooping, lifting objects up to 25 pounds, and reaching cupboards, bulletin and white boards, and keyboard use/repetitive hand motion. The job also requires good hearing and vision adequate for assigned responsibilities.
Work environment
Employee is subject to working in a generally well-lighted and ventilated classroom environment approximately 85% of the time, while the remainder of the time is spend teaching or supervising students outside, in the gymnasium, on field trips, etc.
