COUNSELING AND TESTING - Pre-Doctoral Intern Therapist

Position summary
As member of the Counseling & Testing Center clinical team, provides individual, couple, and group counseling. Available for clinical consultations, and student crisis interventions. Maintains an assigned case load. Particiaptes in the planning and delivery of prevention/outreacha ctivities. Participates in weekly professional development activities, supervision, and clinical case conferences. Reports to the Director of Counseling & Testing Center.
Qualifications summary
Enrollment in a doctoral degree program (Ph.D./Psy.D. or equivalent) in Counseling/Clinical Psychology from a regionally accredited institution. Appropriately licensed (DTPPL, LP, LPC), or license eligible in the state of Michigan.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
Provide in time-limited individual counseling, group psychotherapy, outreach/consultation, assessment and crisis intervention
Collaborate with clients to formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans as part of client care
Maintain clinical records and provide clinical documentation and communication with in-house and external practitioners as necessary for ethical clinical treatment
Collaborate with the Prevention / Outreach Coordinator and other campus departments in the offering of outreach programming, including Tuesday Choices, annual Wellness Fair, Residence Hall mental health presentations and other outreach initiatives
Participate in internal research (such as client satisfaction surveys, session rating scales, etc.,)
Participate in weekly didactic / professional development activities.
Participate in / co-lead peer consultation groups.
Administer psychological assessments as assigned or as part of client care to aid in diagnostic clarification.
Particiapte in weekly supervision.
Perform related responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or designee and as required to meet APPIC and the School of Graduate Psychology & Counseling APA requirements.
Supervisory responsibilities
Participate in / co-lead peer consultation groups (as overseen by Director and fully licensed psychologist)
Qualifications
Enrollment in a doctoral degree program (Ph.D./Psy.D. or equivalent) in Counseling/Clinical Psychology from a regionally accredited institution.
Appropriately licensed (DTPPL, LP, LPC), or license eligible in the state of Michigan.
Strong generalist skills in time-limited individual counseling, group psychotherapy, outreach/consultation, assessment and crisis intervention
Commitment to working with director and assigned supervisor (fully licensed psychologists) to ensure compliance with training requirements and ethical and legal standards of care.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
Computer efficiency, especially with Microsoft Word, Access PowerPoint and Excel Programs. Knowledge of Titanium Schedule Management a plus.
Interpersonal interactions
Interpersonal, organization and communication skills required.
Must be comfortable interacting with students, faculty, staff, university administrators, parents, and medical as well as mental health providers beyond the university campus.
Physical demands

Counseling is a sedentary occupation because a great proportion of the time is spent listening, observing, and interacting with clients in an office. Also important are good vision and hearing so that appropriate assessments can be made. May be required to lift items weighing about 20 pounds as part of prevention / outreach delivery.
