ACADEMY GENERAL - Guidance Counselor

Position summary

Provides support services to students, staff, and parents. Support services include referrals, counseling, assessment, diagnostics, and report writing. This work takes place at the school site, in other public buildings, and in private residences. Additional responsibilities include student rostering/scheduling, maintaining individual student Education Plans, etc.

Master’s degree (preferred) in field of social services, including certification in school counseling 



 


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Must demonstrate proficiency in office and educational software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and student information systems (RenWeb, PowerSchool, or FACTS). Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, Google Classroom) and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) is required. The Guidance Counselor must effectively utilize technology for data management, communication, scheduling, and academic record-keeping and demonstrate adaptability to new systems as needed.

The general work environment is within Andrews Academy. With noted occasions of traveling with students to visit higher educational institutions and other relevant environments.
