Position summary

This individual provides hands-on technical and operational support for the School of Nursing's simulation laboratory, ensuring manikins, audiovisual/recording equipment, supplies, and simulation scenarios are set up, maintained, and ready for scheduled learning activities.  

Qualifications summary

The successful candidate must be comfortable working with simulation equipment and demonstrate strong organizational skills. The ability to work effectively with a diverse group of faculty and students is essential.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

• Simulation Scenario Setup & Support
  
  
  
  • set up and bread down simulation scenarios
  
  
  • provide real time technical support to faculty during simulations
  
  
  • assist faculty and students in open lab/remediation session
  
  
  
  


• Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  
  
  
  • routine maintenance of all equipment
  
  
  • monitors equipment for scheduled updates and repairs
  
  
  • maintains manufacturer documentation 
  
  
  
  


• Inventory & Facility Upkeep
  
  
  
  • tracks/restocks lab supplies 
  
  
  • maintains cleanliness and organization
  
  
  • assists with inventory counts and order requests
  
  
  
  


• Scheduling & Student Support
  
  
  
  • support scheduling of lab usage 
  
  
  • assists in coordinating and training student workers
  
  
  • performs other assigned duties
  
  
  
  

Supervisory responsibilities

Occasional responsibility to coordinate and train student workers in simulation lab duties. 

Qualifications

• Comfort with electronic, computerized, and audiovisiual equipment and the ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues


• Ability to follow detailed scenario setup instructions


• Strong organization skills and reliability for scheduled lab sessions.


• Ability to effectively work with faculty and students in a fast paced, hands on lab environment


• Maintain strict student confidentiality regarding lab-based skills assessment and remediation


• Basic computer skills 


• High school diploma or equivalent required


• Associate's degree or technical certification in healthcare technology, biomedical/AV equipment, or related field preferred.


• Prior experience in a simulation lab, as a patient care technician, EMT, CNA, or in AV/techinical support preferred but not required.

Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, scheduling, and equipment documentation.  

Comfort with electronic, computerized, and audiovisual equipment; ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues independently

Technical certification preferred

Interpersonal interactions

Process critical inquiry skills and judgment necessary to successfully interact with faculty, students, families, and other program support staff.  

Ability to expressively and receptively communicate in English

 

Physical demands

Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk and use hands and fingers.  The person in this role is required to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require some lifting (at least 35 lbs (moving manikins, task trainers, and simulation equipment).  

The job requires carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and signifiant fine finger dexterity.  

Work environment

Work is performed in a typical office environemnt with moderate noise level. 

The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy lab environment.
