Position summary
Under the leadership of the School of Distance Education Director of Student Services, this worker is responsible for all online student support communication plans including webpage and video tutorial creation and updating, as well as helping with direct student questions.
Qualifications summary
- be a full-time student attending main campus intending to continue at Andrews through 2016
- writing, editing, spreadsheet and video production skills and experience preferred
- caring customer service orientation essential
- excellent English writing and oral language skills
- strong organization skills and attention to detail
- ability to proactively solve problems and follow directions
- available to work through summers
Duties and responsibilities
- work with faculty and staff to edit or create video tutorials to orient and support undergraduate and graduate students studying at a distance
- edit or create webpages, email templates and campaigns, mailing lists, and other written communications
- update protocols for student service, helping to create and improve systems for students at a distance
- be cross-trained to assist with direct student assistance in peak periods
Supervisory responsibilities
This student position includes training other student workers to assist on larger projects.
Qualifications
- Students should have strong reasoning, language, and computer skills.
- A passion for learning on the job, as well as improving and streamlining any assigned tasks is desired.
Technical competencies
- Ability to process many details and competently use current office software, AU webpage cms, video editing tools, webinar, skype and other digital communication tools as we experiment with them.
Interpersonal interactions
- Willingness to professionally respond to student complaints, listening to and praying with them as appropriate, and then act on their behalf, persisting in finding solutions on-campus.
Physical demands
Clear vision, good hearing, and finger dexterity to proficiently use a computer.
Work environment
Student computer desk workspace provided. May do some work on own laptop outside of the office space provided.
