Position summary

Medical Laboratory Science Teaching Faculty expected to participate in academic advising, curriculum development, student evaluation, and involvement in research activities with students and colleagues.

Qualifications summary

Qualifications:

  1. Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent with national (U.S.) recognized certification such as that from the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Advanced specialty certification preferred.

  2. Demonstrate laboratory expertise with experience in major areas of the clinical laboratory.

  3. Collegial team player with good communication skills, problem solving, and organizational skills.

  4. Effective teaching experience either in an academic setting or as a clinical instructor.

  5. Have demonstrated commitment to professional development.


  6. Advanced degree preferred. Individual with extensive clinical laboratory experience may also be considered.




Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  1. Teach medical laboratory science courses and their respective student laboratories as required for the Medical Laboratory Science Program.

  2. Serve as academic advisor.

  3. Participate in curriculum development and student evaluation.

  4. Collaborate with adjunct clinical instructors at affiliate facilities, including clinical site visitation.

  5. Serve on assigned university committees.

  6. Engage in research activities with students and colleagues.

  7. Participate in student recruiting activities.

  8. Uphold and support the Mission, vision, and culture of the MLS Department.



Supervisory responsibilities

Supervise student workers.

Technical competencies

Computer competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others.

Interpersonal interactions

Must be comfortable interacting with students and colleagues of a wide range of national, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

Physical demands

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, lift at least 20 pounds, and be able to climb stairs.

Work environment

Office environment; moderate noise.
