Position summary
Assists chair by providing departmental support as follows:
- function as team leader in administrative, financial, and day-to-day operations of the department

In addition, the person must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications summary
Bachelor's degree preferred; at least two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
Maintains running of the office and support of the Chair in multiple ways including but not limited to overall administrative assistant duties and other tasks as needed.
Assist the Chair with budgets, program accreditation documentation, maintaining student files, organization, and writing/editorial work.
Supports and assists with recruiting efforts of prospective students.
Manages all arrangements related to adjunct faculty appointments.
Supports preparation of materials for January Report for faculty.
Maintains teaching and office supplies for faculty and classrooms.
Organizes student worker applications and hiring process.
Processes program expense reports, department purchase requisitions, and check requests.
Monitors credit card and departmental IDC card purchases.
Collects, maintains and publishes student resources such as job positions, internships, job fairs, opportunities for practicums, internships and volunteer postions available for Communication majors.
Supervisory responsibilities
Time keeper - monitors work hours for student workers and graduate assistants.
Qualifications

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Assist faculty with IT support in office or classroom when needed. Contact IT as needed for more complex computer or printer issues.

Must be comfortable interacting with students and other departmental visitors.
Physical demands
Should be able to shift light furniture items such as desks and chairs.
Work environment
Office environment.
Serve as first contact for students.
Must be able to multitask.
