Position summary
We’re looking for student callers to join our Cardinal Callers team! This position involves contacting alumni during our Phonathon program which runs both Fall and Spring semesters. This is a fun, rewarding, and challenging on-campus job where you will receive professional training and the chance to build essential communication skills. If the idea of connecting with alumni, hearing their stories, and sharing your own experiences sounds like a great way to spend the evenings, this may be the job for you! Primary duties include:
- Talking with alumni about what’s happening on campus
- Updating alumni contact information in our database
- Asking alumni for financial support and donations
Qualifications summary
Qualifications include:
- Must have great communication skills, specifically a professional and friendly demeanor during phone conversations
- Must be comfortable with asking for donations over the phone
- Must be able to work at least 2 evening shifts per week (6:00-10:00pm, Monday thru Thursday)
- Must be a quick learner, a self-starter, have a positive attitude, be able to think on your feet, and adapt to new and challenging situations.
- Must love Andrews and have a desire to share about the great experience you’re having here.
- Must have good attention-to-detail and be dependable and punctual.
- Previous customer service or call center experience a plus!

Office Tests:
MUST complete Keyboarding, Spelling & Customer Service Office Skills Test, and score 85% or higher.

Technical competencies
Technical Competencies include:
- Must be able to operate a desk phone
- Must be able to operate a computer and type quickly and accurately
- Must be able to learn and utilize our Phonathon Online Interface (training will be provided)
Interpersonal interactions
Interpersonal Interactions include:
- Will spend each shift speaking with a variety of Andrews alumni from many different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, and walks of life. Absolutely MUST be able to remain calm, courteous, and polite during each interaction.
- Will spend each shift interacting with other Phonathon Callers. MUST be polite, courteous, and professional toward your teammates at all times.
- Will report directly to a Student Supervisor each shift and must be able to take direction and advice from this individual, and respond as directed in a prompt and professional manner.

Cardinal Callers utilize the Office of Development offices for calling, located in Griggs Hall, which is on the edge of campus next to the highway.
