Position summary
Coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Student Success Center. Serves as the first contact, in person, by phone, or by e-mail, with the Student Success Center for students and their families, as well as on-campus staff.
Qualifications summary
- Fifth year college or university program certificate/degree graphic design or related field; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mastery of written and spoken English
- Able to maintain workflow in a busy office setting with multiple interruptions
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
Hourly Position: 40 hours per week
(includes supervision of office one evening per week during tutoring hours)
Summary:
- Coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Student Success Center
- Serves as the first contact with the Student Success Center for students and their families, as well as on-campus staff, in person, over the phone, and by e-mail
- Assists and supports the Student Success Center staff in the provision of quality academic support for all Andrews University students
- Maintains calendars and schedules appointments for all staff in the office
- Must be able to multi-task in a busy office environment with multiple interruptions
- Must be able to work with a diverse student/staff population
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
General Office:
- Serves as the receptionist for the Center
- Maximizes office productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications
- Maintains office files
- Schedules appointments
- Supervises office student workers and aids in prioritizing of student worker tasks
- Coordinates purchasing of goods and supplies for the office
- Tracks inventory of office supplies
- Tracks expenses and reconciles the Center’s financial statements
Undergraduate Academic Advising:
- Performs changes of major and advisor for current UG students through Banner, according to individual academic department advising guidelines
- Generates degree evaluations to support major change requests
- Up-dates students information in appropriate systems
- Informs students, advisors, and department chairpersons of all degree/major/minor/ advisor changes made by UG students
- Assigns academic advisors to new, incoming students according to academic department advising guidelines
- Performs major changes as requested by new, incoming students before they arrive on campus
- Informs new students of advisor assignment and of changes to majors/advisors
- Responds to academic advisors about iVue, preVue, and registration questions
- Maintains records for advising
Undergraduate Success Advising:
- Supports the Success Advisor as needed
Disability Accommodation:
- Provides support, as needed, with Disability Services
- Aids students with documentation needs
- Proctors tests taken by students in the Center
Undergraduate Student Intervention:
- Supports the Student Intervention Coordinator through monitoring and documenting iVue alerts
- Procures up-dates about students from professors as needed
Undergraduate Tutoring Services:
- Serves as the first contact for students requesting tutoring services
- Provides forms and aids students in completing the forms
- Oversees the signing in/out process for tutoring pairs
- Responsible for tutoring, as the staff on duty, one evening per week during the semester
- Supervises the student worker at the front desk
- In charge of locking and unlocking rooms used by tutoring pairs
- Completes at least one walk-through of Buller Hall (as agreed to by CAS Dean)
- Locks rooms in Nethery Hall at the end of evening
