Position summary
This full-time faculty position will teach graduate-level clinical practice courses, with particular expertise in advanced assessment/diagnosis, marriage and family therapy, evidence-based practices, and treatment of adult mental disorders. Responsibilities include teaching BSW and MSW courses, conducting research, and providing academic advising and service to the department, University, and surrounding community. Other responsibilities include recruiting students, participating on committees, conducting site visits at internship sites, and participating in student activities.
Qualifications summary
Requires a Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited program, a minimum of 5 years of post-MSW social work clinical practice experience, and a state clinical license (e.g. LCSW, LMSW, etc.). Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in advanced clinical classes and interest in research are highly desirable.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide academic advising to 12-15 students
- Demonstrate extensive practice skills and ability to teach a) advanced assessment/diagnosis; b) marriage and family therapy; c) evidence-based practices; d) treatment of adult mental disorders and other advanced clinical courses
- Participate in on campus and off-campus student recruiting activities
- Conduct site visits at internship sites
- Participate in student activities
- Possess time management skills that allow for many demands and time constraints. These include meeting with students, attending meetings, course demands, and research requirements
- Ability to teach courses at various times. Some travel to extension campus and internship sites may be required.
- Stay informed of current trends and new approaches to instruction, and new developments in the social work field via professional development activities
- Maintain professional development/growth according to personal needs and certification requirements
- Maintain an active research agenda demonstrated through presentations at national conferences, and publications.

Supervisory responsibilities
Directly supervises 1-2 graduate assistants. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications

- Advanced skills in verbal and written English
- Detailed oriented and organized with good analytical skills

Technical competencies
- Beginning to Intermediate skill level in MS Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
- Effectively organize a wide variety of documents, files and information in various formats and levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to prepare a wide variety of reports and written materials (e.g. correspondence, notices, letters, data analysis, handbooks, etc.).
