\n On Saturday\, Nov. 18\, 2017\, at 8 p.m.\, the Andrews Un iversity Symphony Orchestra will perform in the Howard Performing Arts Cen ter on the campus of Andrews University. The concert will feature music fr om the Romantic Period.

\n

\n Violinist Carla Trynchuk will perform & ldquo\;The Scottish Fantasy\,&rdquo\; a charming solo piece for violin and orchestra. The piece was composed by Max Bruch and inspired by Folk tunes from Scotland. The orchestra will also perform Robert Schumann&rsquo\;s e nigmatic Symphony No. 3\, &ldquo\;Rhenish.&rdquo\;

\n

\n Trynchuk has performed as a soloist with orchestras across North America and Europe\, including the Calgary Philharmonic in Canada as well as the Banatul and Ia si Philharmonic Orchestras. She graduated from the Julliard School and is currently a professor of music and director of the string program at Andre ws University where she was the recipient of the 2000 Faculty Award for Ex cellence in Research &\; Creative Activity and the Siegfried H. Horn Ex cellence in Research &\; Creative Scholarship Award (Arts\, Humanities &\; Education) in 2015.

\n

\n Conducted by Claudio Gonzalez\, prof essor of music\, the symphony orchestra is the core ensemble program at An drews University. In addition to their current series at the Howard Perfor ming Arts Center\, the orchestra travels within the Great Lakes region as well as internationally. \n Anthem Lights is an American Christian group originating from Nashville\, TN. \; Made up of four gifted vocalist and talented s ongwriters: Chad Graham\, Spencer Kane\, Caleb Grimm and Joseph Stamper\, they are innovative\, high energy\, and ministry minded. \; The meanin g behind their name asserts that although there is lots of darkness in thi s life\, in the end\, light is going to come through and win. \; They want to be a channel for that light to reach those who need it and to remi nd us that our lives have purpose and meaning in Christ. \; A collabor ation of pop and religious music has resulted in an edgy style of their ow n that is effectively making them a favorite among young people.
