Memorial Service for Rick Ledesma

Life Stories | Posted on June 20, 2018

We are saddened to inform the campus of the death of Rick Ledesma, husband of Janet Ledesma, professor of leadership. Rick died Friday, June 15, following a hard-fought battle with brain cancer.

Please remember the Ledesma family in your thoughts and prayers as they process this difficult loss. You are invited to share memories and condolences with the family below.

Rick’s Celebration of Life will be held at Pioneer Memorial Church on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend, the celebration will be live streamed (we will share the link once it is available).

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that all donations be sent to the Berrien County Cancer Service (7301 Red Arrow Highway, Stevensville, MI 49127; Attn: Nancy Church, director). The BCCS was there for Rick and the family in many ways from the beginning to the end of the GBM journey. The family would like to share this same blessing with other families on their cancer journeys.

The family is also requesting that due to the high volume of interest, all questions be directed to Rick Ledesma's Fight Against Brain Cancer Facebook page or to Evelyn Perez (269-471-3487). Thank you for the outpouring of love, support and prayers, and messages you have provided to the family during this very difficult time.

Dear Janet--I do not know you nor Rick, but my husband died from GBM nearly 16 years ago right here in Berrien Springs, so I have been following your journey--especially the new treatments that prolonged Rick's life. I pray that you will be comforted by our wonderful God, even as so many other widows in this community have been comforted. It's a painful journey to walk, but it does get better with time. God bless you and your family. --Rosie Nash
