Kemble holds the principal flute position with the LaPorte and Elkhart Symphonies and has also performed with multiple orchestras in the Michiana region.  Kemble is a devoted educator and holds several university positions as adjunct faculty of flute, including at Andrews University. The program, titled “A Legacy of Care and Compassion,” will feature brothers Loren and Lowell Hamel. Born in Michigan, and with deep roots in the Andrews University community, the twins have made a significant impact on their local church and community. Growing up in a strong faith environment, both Loren and Lowell were called to serve their community of Berrien Springs, Michigan, as physicians. In 1976, both graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Andrews University. After attending Loma Linda University in California, they felt called back to Southwest Michigan to build and grow the community they grew up in. Both have worked to meet the health care needs of their community for more than 35 years, as primary care physicians and hospital administrators. For many years, Loren served as president and chief strategy officer and Lowell served as chief operating officer of Corewell Health (formerly Spectrum Health). Both Loren and Lowell have invested in the Andrews University community over the years. In 1990, they practiced medicine together at the University Medical Center on campus. Additionally, Loren Hamel has served as director of Student Health Services, clinical professor of nursing, president of the Alumni Association, chair of the J.N. Andrews Sculpture Committee, and member of the Board of Trustees and several of its subcommittees. The "Legends of Michiana" documentary series highlights people and organizations that have been influential to the growth and development of the Michiana area. He will use Luke 4:18–19 as a jumping-off point for his talk. Nixon serves as director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging for South Bend area’s Beacon Health System. He earned his law degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago Law School in 2013 and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Andrews University in 2009. He served as Andrews University’s vice president for University Culture & Inclusion for six years before transitioning to Beacon Health. Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his daughter, Noa, who is in fourth grade. His presentation will be sponsored by Michiana Adventist Forum.
