Technology is a tool. It&rsquo;s here to stay and social platforms are a place to connect, share and care, but what&rsquo;s really happening? Are we addicted? How do we stop? Where do we start? What do we need to know? By understanding the effects of technology and social media on the brain, on our lives and on our civilization, we can learn how to navigate it more safely together. It&rsquo;s not about blame. It&rsquo;s about looking in the mirror and empowering ourselves to create balance in our lives and to learn to be there for each other.</p> <p> This is the final screening in our required New Student Film Series. All students are welcome to attend. Co-curricular credit will be offered.</p> Tue, 16 Oct 2018 10:09:15 +0000 Angst - Documentary Screening <section class="Introduction"> <p class="Introduction__paragraph"> <em>Angst</em> is a 43-minute film that explores anxiety its causes, effects and what we can do about it. The filmmakers' goal is to spark a conversation and raise awareness around anxiety. <em>Angst </em>features candid interviews with kids and young adults who suffer, or have suffered, from anxiety and what they've learned about it. The film includes discussions with mental health experts about the causes of anxiety and its sociological effects, as well as help, resources and tools.</p> <p class="Introduction__paragraph"> This event is part of the New Student Film Series and is required of all first-year undergraduate students. Other students who are available and may be interested in the topic are encouraged to attend. The Counseling and Testing Center, which is sponsoring the screening, will have counselors on hand after the program to answer any questions.
