Please note that a physical parking permit is still required to be affixed to each vehicle. This does not change the status of existing permits. The online process should be used when registering a new vehicle or renewing an existing permit according to previously established timelines. <ul> <li> Registration for faculty/staff permits can be completed online, and the physical permit can either be sent via campus mail to their on-campus work address or picked up in-person.</li> <li> Registration for all other permits can be completed online, and the physical permit can be picked up in-person at the Office of Campus Safety.</li> </ul> Individuals needing to register or re-register a vehicle should first complete the online registration process. Further permit-specific directions will be provided at that time. Thu, 26 Aug 2021 20:35:17 +0000 2020 Security & Fire Safety Report Available http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/57446 The Office of Campus Safety has published the 2020 Annual Security & Fire Safety Report as required by the Department of Education under the Jeanne Clery Act. This report contains statistical information on criminal activity and fire-related incidents. It also contains University policies in regards to the safety and security of the campus. Mon, 23 Nov 2020 14:37:08 +0000 Severe Weather Siren Testing http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/55169 On Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, at 12:30 p.m., the University's severe weather siren will be activated for a short period of time to test repairs that were made this week. Part of the test may result in an audible siren tone. If you do hear the siren tone, please disregard it. This is in response to a false activation, when on Jan. 9, 2020, the University’s severe weather siren malfunctioned and sounded without being activated. Thu, 16 Jan 2020 14:14:07 +0000 Alumni Homecoming Road & Parking Closures http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/54373 During the Alumni Homecoming weekend (Sept. 27–29) there will be occasional road and parking lot closures for specific events. Details on these closures are below. Please make note of them and plan accordingly. Friday, Sept. 27 Classic Car Show 5 a.m.–6 p.m. University Bookstore parking lot (Lot #8) will be closed in addition to several parking spaces in Lot #7. Homecoming Parade 4:45–6:30 p.m. While the parade is scheduled to start at 5 p.m., the roads will begin to close before the event. Please note that during the parade, the primary access on/off campus will be at the Timberland Drive entrance. Vehicles may park at the Howard Performing Arts Center parking lot (Lot #4) through Grove Ave. and Walnut Court. Traffic on West Campus Circle Drive heading toward PMC will be directed to turn into the Andreasen Center for Wellness parking lot (Lot #25) to then, upon exit, turn left and head toward University Towers. Parade participants who arrive after 4:45 p.m. should access the Andrews Academy parking lot (Lot #32) via Timberland to International Court by the Garland/Maplewood Apartments. After 4:45 p.m. access will not be allowed for parade participants via any other route. Closed for the entire parade: <ul> <li> J.N. While the reported affected area includes residential areas off of Kephart Lane, the local area, including the campus, could also be affected. In response to this notice, the campus is encouraged to take the following precautions: <ul> <li> Keep your vehicle locked at all times and take the keys with you.</li> <li> Do not leave items of value in your vehicle. If the item must remain, keep it out of sight.</li> <li> Immediately report any suspicious behavior to the police and/or Campus Safety (if on campus).</li> </ul> If you believe you have been a victim of theft from a motor vehicle (or any crime), contact the police and/or Campus Safety (if on campus) immediately. Please note that if you intend to report the theft/property loss to your insurance company, they will most likely require a police report. If you see a crime in progress, call 911 immediately. While the likelihood of contracting EEE is low, and even lower for experiencing symptoms, the campus is encouraged to be familiar with EEE and take preventative steps to reduce possible exposure. The following preventative steps were provided in the Berrien County Health Department release: <ul> <li> When outdoors, apply insect repellents that contain the active ingredient DEET, or other U.S. EPA registered products, to exposed skin or clothing, and always follow the manufacturer's directions for use.</li> <li> Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants when outdoors. Thu, 12 Sep 2019 17:30:29 +0000 Test of AU Alert System http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/54138 On Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at 1:25 p.m., the Office of Campus Safety will be testing the University’s emergency mass notification system, AU Alert. The test can help users confirm that their individual settings are correct and ensure that automated processes are operating as designed. The test will not require any physical response from the campus. The test will include messages sent via the following methods: text message, email, a banner on all University webpages, and posts to the University’s social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter. The primary verbiage used in the alert will read as “AU Alert: TEST—This is a test of AU Alert system.” Messages sent via email and posted to Facebook will include the following verbiage on reporting failures in the system: While the Office of Campus Safety will be reviewing the alert report to identify any failures or users who did not receive a text message, they also ask anyone to report if they were unable to receive the test alert message. You can report any known failures to Campus Safety via email and inform them what part of the system did not work for you.
