Disciplines will include anthropology, archaeology, community & international development, economics, political science, psychology, social work, sociology and related disciplines. This year’s keynote speakers are Karl Bailey and Shannon Trecartin. The Andrews Research Conference is organized to provide Adventist graduate students, post-docs and early career faculty (five years post graduate school) the opportunity to share their research with one another and with Andrews University. Wed, 10 Apr 2024 10:58:08 +0000 Summit on Social Consciousness 2024 http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/64801 The Summit on Social Consciousness is an annual event at Andrews University designed to focus our attention on important social issues that have special relevance to our students, faculty, staff and community. These events are designed to put a spotlight on current social ills and provide opportunities to advance awareness, foster intelligent dialogue and agitate for change.   Race. Religion. Reflections. Andrews University: The Institutional Saga (1960–1980) will run from Feb. 29 to March 2, 2024. Each of the sessions will feature the screening of a video of individuals sharing their lived experiences at Andrews during the years 1960–1980. This will be followed by a panel discussion of experts that delves into the issues raised, celebrating our progress while exploring opportunities for growth.    The video screenings include "The Alvin Kibble Story," "The Merlene Ogden & Hyveth Williams Stories," and "The BSCF Alumni Stories." Our distinguished panel will include Olive Hemmings, PhD, author, researcher and professor of religion at Washington Adventist University and Morris Anthony Beckford, PhD, author, researcher and associate dean at George Brown College in Toronto.
