The architecture faculty aspires to teach sound thinking, practical skills, and rigorous scholarship in the discipline of architecture; and promotes students who: Craft buildings that are dignified, durable and purposeful; Design communities that foster civility; Serve mankind in accord with their professional and Christian vocation; Seek the virtues of joy, beauty, wholeness and moderation in their lifelong pursuit of learning. All this for God's honor and His glory until the risen Christ comes again.

Computers and other tools that help you complete your projects

While hand-drawing serves as a primary medium in developing architectural thought in the Andrews University studio setting, the School of Architecture promotes the learned use of computer-technology as part of its mission. To promote the professional development of students, the program offers courses which introduce students to applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and Adobe Photoshop. Use of the computer in the curriculum varies by course.

The architecture computer lab has 18 Dell workstations and 4 BOXX workstations providing access to such applications as:  Audtodesk Suite (Revit, Autocad, etc.), Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.), Microsoft Office, and Sketchup. A second eighteen-station lab is located int the fourth year studio and a third six-station lab for the Architecture Mission Group (AMG). There is a flatbed color scanner available for students in the computer lab.  In addition there is a HP 5500 color laser printer, a HP 5000 laser printer, a HP 800 inkjet plotters, two HP Design Jet 1120 plotters, and one Ricoh MF C2551 color copier/printer.

The School has one Graphtec large format scanner, a new laser cutter/printer, and a Canon dslr camera for student and faculty use. Students may also rent photographic equipment from Imaging Services.

Students are required to purchase a laptop computer and software according to guidelines provided by the School. Because computer technology changes rapidly and frequently, a revised policy will be drafted for each new Fall Semester outlining the specific requirements for that academic year. Therefore, it is necessary that equipment purchases be postponed until that year's policy is available.

In addition to printing, plotting and scanning capabilities, students of the School of Architecture have access to the Campus network, and the Internet through various Ethernet access points located in the architecture building. Access is also available through the campus wireless network.  Printing costs are subject to change without notice and will be posted each semester
