President Andreasen visits Campus Design Studio
On Monday, August 27, University President Niels-Erik Andreasen visited the Campus Design Studio at the Architecture Building to meet the graduate team and to offer his thoughts and advice on the upcoming planning effort. Amongst other items, he offered his insight into why Andrews University needs a campus master plan, how this relates to the new Strategic Plan and the biblical concept of stewardship. Some graduates were particularly appreciative of the broader context offered by the president on how past campus building project decisions have been made, including for the Howard Performing Arts Center. When asked by a student to comment on campus aesthetics, the president emphasized that the Biblical values held by Seventh-day Adventists should be evident in the work, including quality, moderation, neatness, human health, and a strong relationship with the natural elements of the campus. Other topics discussed included building durability on campus and the upcoming campus-wide participatory process. The meeting ended with a prayer asking for guidance and wisdom in moving this effort forward.
