Lael Caesar holds MA degrees in Religion (AU) and Hebrew (UW Madison, WI) and a Ph.D in Hebrew & Semitic Studies from UW, Madison, WI. Following years of pastoral and academic work in the Caribbean and at the University of Montemorelos, Mexico, he joined the AU faculty in 1996. He is a member of the General Conference’s Biblical Research Institute Advisory Committee, and Faith and Science Council. He lives on permanent honeymoon with his wonderful wife, Lena, in Laurel, Maryland, serving as associate editor of Adventist Review and Adventist World magazines in Silver Spring, Maryland, while continuing on in our department as a research professor. Lena is an associate professor and coordinator of the undergraduate program of Speech Language Pathology at Loyola University, Baltimore, MD. Lael is a specialist in biblical wisdom literature with scores of articles in multiple languages to his credit. Forthcoming scholarly publications [in press] include a commentary on Job and articles on Moses as a leader, and Satan in the book of Job. He is contributing the commentary on Lamentations to the new Seventh-day Adventist International Bible Commentary.
