Anita González, MSSW, LLMSW has over 10 years of experience working with children and adolescents in various settings: residential treatment, health department, psychiatric hospital, bereavement retreats, and foster care. Anita also has professional experience working with older adults in the hospice setting and earned a Gerontology Certificate from the University of Tennessee in 2009. Anita spent several years working in the field of child welfare as a professional development coach and social work practice specialist, providing intense training to new child welfare workers, in-services for the Department of Children Services, and training for private agencies and their foster parents, as well as coaching and consultation on various cases. Most recently, Anita worked in the Office of Human Resources at Andrews University as the Training Development Coordinator, responsible for developing, coordinating, and collaborating with various departments on campus in the development and provision of professional development activities for faculty, staff, and student employees.
Anita has previously taught various courses at Southern Adventist University, Southwestern Michigan College, and Andrews University.
Currently, Anita is the Social Work Continuing Education Coordinator in the Department of Social Work and a Contract Faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy. Anita also works with Bethany Christian Services of Michigan as a Behavioral Specialist and Crisis Prevention Consultant, working with foster families and refugee children.
Anita and her husband are foster/adoptive parents.
