Bermuda Institute is owned and operated by the Bermuda Conference of Seventh-day Adventists since 1943 and offers a grade Pre-K-12 co-educational program that is aligned with the American system of education. Bermuda Institute is accredited by AAA and MSA.
Bermuda Institute is seeking the following personnel for the 2022-2023 school year:
HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHERS
Applicant Requirements:
-
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in English together with a teaching certificate (a graduate degree is a plus)
-
Must have at least four years of teaching English in the high school and middle school grades
-
Must be proficient in the teaching of all aspects of English Language Arts thereby motivating students to love literature and poetry
-
An ability to teach to AP levels is a plus
-
Assist with the publication of the School’s Yearbook
HIGH SCHOOL LEARNING SUPPORT TEACHER
-
Applicant Requirements:
-
Master’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in Inclusion, Collaborative Consultation, or a relevant concentration
-
Five years experience in the high school grades teaching students with disabilities i.e. learning, emotional, social, behavioral, etc.
-
Proficiency in developing and implementing annual IEPs for students which include research-based specialised instruction
-
Proficiency in employing various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning together with a proven ability in using assistive technology
COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHER
Applicant Requirements:
-
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education (a graduate degree in the subject area is a plus) or a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related subject area.

Must have at least four years of teaching at the middle and senior school grades
-
Teaching the requirements of computer science and information technology including computer programming languages such as Java, Python, and relevant technologies.

Enhancing computer programming language keyboarding skills of students as they type commands, built-in methods, and functions together with key concepts of popular programming languages.
-
Introducing students to the world of robotics as an interdisciplinary branch of computer science.
-
Ensuring that students are immersed in the design, construction, operation, and use of robots in the classroom.
-
Introducing students to the world of Data Science and the importance of analytics.

For each position listed above, all applicants must:

Be a skilled teacher able to use current and emerging technologies in learning and communicating with students

Have great classroom management and excellent skills in relating to the students in a multi-grade setting.

Possess the ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and outside agencies when required
-
Be a team player desirous of participating in the growth of the school
-
Be willing to perform homeroom, lunch, and extra curricula duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have a keen eye for details
-
Familiarity with the use of RenWeb is a plus.

Applicants must be practicing Seventh-day Adventists, in regular standing, who love children and model Christianity, thereby upholding the faith and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. They must be able to foster faith development in students at Bermuda Institute. Applicants must also be willing to comply with Bermuda Institute’s workplace COVID Testing policy as a condition of employment. Salary and benefits are based on the denominational wage scale and policy determinations operating in Bermuda.
