Dr. Amelyn Magtanong is an ANCC board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner who has joined Andrews University School of Nursing in January 2020. Her passion and dedication to make a difference in the lives of her students through a Christ-centered approach are the mainsprings of her teaching philosophy. Collectively, she has 36 years of clinical experience with concentrations on primary care as a licensed nurse practitioner, and critical care and emergency care nursing as a registered nurse. She taught in the School of Nursing at Adventist University of the Philippines before migrating to the United States. She trained new hired nurses and conducted several in-service staff trainings on critical care and emergency procedures at Advent Health Orlando ER. Furthermore, she served as a lecturer of Creation Health series held in local churches and mission trips abroad.
Dr. Magtanong holds certifications for critical care nursing (CCRN-K), cardiac medicine (CMC), and advanced practice nursing (APRN). She is a current member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), and Sigma Theta Tau International.
Dr. Magtanong teaches the following courses in both undergraduate and graduate levels, respectively: “Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing”, “Medical-Surgical I/II Clinical”, “Health Assessment Lab”, and “Families in Stress and Crisis”; “Advanced Pharmacology Across the Lifespan” and “Advanced Pathophysiology Across the Lifespan”.
