   Agenda
   Tue, October 15, 2013 @ 05:30 pm - 07:00 pm
    Bell Hall, Room 013

Andrews International Center for Educational Research ( AICER) invites students and faculty to attend a research symposium on Tuesday October 15 at 5:30 p.m

Presenter: Dr. Karl Bailey, Behavioral Neuroscience program coordinator, professor of psychology

Title: Beyond the IRB: Who is Responsible for Ethical Research?

In the United States, responsibility for ethical treatment of review subjects is ensured by the federally mandated Institutional Review Board structure. However, ethical research requires ethical commitments beyond the narrow definition of 45 CFR 46 (the law describing Institutional Review Boards). We will examine three case studies in order to better understand the implications of research ethics being solely defined by the Institutional Review Board process, and will discuss the role that researchers play in ethical research.

Face-to-face participants meet in Bell Hall 013.

Online participants to login as "Guest" at https://andrews.adobeconnect.com/_a877709416/research/ or http://www.andrews.edu/sed/aicer/researchwebinars/ whether or not they are registered Andrews students.
