Physical Therapy—DPT

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program prepares you to become a healthcare professional with a clinical entry-level doctorate dedicated to evaluating, treating, and preventing physical injury and disease. You are taught to design and implement the necessary therapeutic interventions to promote fitness, health and improve your patient’s quality of life.

PROGRAM LENGTH

This 116-credit DPT program is completed by full-time students in three years (9 semesters).

Students who have completed 92 credits of specific college prerequisites prior to beginning the DPT program will earn BHS after the first two semesters and upon successful completion of the program a DPT degree.

Students with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply and may complete the DPT program in 9 semesters.

Prospective students must submit an application by January 15.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum GPA of 3.20 is required in all core PT prerequisite courses (3.5 or above to be considered competitive).
  • Complete required pre-requisite courses. A grade of “C” or better is required. Prerequisite course requirements are listed at andrews.edu/shp/pt
  • Submit an application at the Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service (PTCAS). Go to ptcas.org
  • GRE General test exam taken within five years.
  • Complete 80 hours of clinical observation supervised by a licensed physical therapist in at least three different settings (20 hours must be in the inpatient hospital setting).
  • Applicants who meet academic requirements are invited for a personal interview.
  • TOEFL: Students whose language of education is not English must submit English proficiency tests scores. Score requirements are listed at andrews.edu/shp/pt
