During your stay at Meier Hall you'll be expected to adhere to guidelines that were designed to benefit you, and to preserve and bolster our mission along with the message and lifestyle of the Seventh-day Adventist church. Please regard them with mature and responsible attitudes.
For a comprehensive and detailed list of guidelines, please refer to the
2013-2014 Meier Hall Handbook.
You'll be required to adhere to the evening accountability guidelines based on your age, disciplinary, and academic status. Curfews range from 11 p.m.-1 a.m. on week nights, depending on your status. During the weekends, your curfew will be extended to accommodate travel and time with friends and family.
Faith-Based Co-Curricular Programs
Residents are required to attend a minimum of 30 Co-Curricular Programs; 8 which are dorm related.
You will be held accountable for maintaining the condition of your room and its furnishings. If you intentionally damage your room, or any other part of the Men's Residence Halls, you will be held financially responsible. Please treat your residence hall with care.
Firearms and other weapons--including martial arts weapons, paintball guns, BB and/or pellet guns, bows and arrows, and knives--are strictly forbidden. So are fireworks, matches, lighters, and generally any incineration devices. While we're on the subject of what not to have, drug and/or alcohol possession is also prohibited. Andrews University upholds a zero-tolerance position when it comes to maintaining a drug-free environment.
Your female friends are not allowed in Meier or Burman Halls, except in the main floor lobbies and during special events like open house. If special circumstances require your girlfriend, mother, or sister to visit beyond the lobby, she'll need to obtain permission from the dean on duty and will be accompanied by a staff member.
This means keeping your movies, music, and conversations down to a level that will not interfere with the study or sleep of your neighbors, especially at night.
